As High School Science enthusiast I am is passionate about mathematical jargon and space mystics but blog writing came to me in very different aspect :-->
Great Grandma’s philosophy of life was to do what seemed like a good idea at the time, and do it as hard as possible. It had never let her down & it’s still valid today (dadi ma ki nuskhe)
Same strategy was adopted by my Grand Parents:
Stay low, stay quiet, keep it simple, don't expect too much, and enjoy what you have
Both brilliant in academics, my grandparents Sri Prabuddha Kr. Bhattacharyya & Smt Anushila Bhattacharya, settled in Steel Township of Durgapur during the formative days of the eminent city and lived up to the Tag line ‘ there is a little bit of SAIL in everybody’s life ‘
A State Gold medalist , M.Tech/Ph.D. in Operational research, he contributed tons in various Department in SAIL , both India & abroad & became founder of “Panchboti “ society , meaning abode of 5 Banyan trees , which is an epitome of togetherness still residing in the hearts of the Steel Township.
With double Masters in her kitty, she chose the teaching profession and excelled as Mathematics Lecturer with huge fan following amongst student population … a rare feat in this discipline.
Having groomed three children to their respective success lives, they are now faced with the Demon of modern-age pollution & lifestyle --- CANCER!!
Both are struggling with the venom (Granny is terminally ill with 4th stage cancer) but they keep on inspiring everyone around them with their energy & liveliness. There is a ‘CAN’ in the word ‘CANCER’ & they are determined to beat it… emphasizing the statement that broken crayons still color, beautifully.
Granny had to be hospitalized 27 times and at one night in ICU, I was standing hopeless…. Praying to God … Grandpa had m-o-n-t-h-s of hospitalization due to radiation therapy & he bore all of the sessions, sportily! Both are being treated in Max Hospital (Patparganj & Saket)
The last few years have been a game changer for me too. Spending time in Terminal Wards, I have felt the meaning of LIFE in very different way. It cannot be explained, but experienced, only. So, no sermons here.
In everyone’s life …before the best friends, spouse and everyone else in between, the first and arguably most important relationship is that with your parents. I am trying to keep that up!
